For what IS your life?

"It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." James 4:14

Our weekly blog looks at life through the lens of the bible to bring into focus a world that is out of focus and has lost its focus!

GenESIS 1:1 THE KEY IS AT THE DOOR

Opening your bible you will find that the key is right at the door. Verse 1 is only 10 words but key to understanding the whole Bible. The key is God! God opens the door to everything. Therefore God receives the glory and praise for everything. In Genesis 1 God opens the door from Eternity on to the stage of time, where we all find ourselves as you read this. Darwin, Dawkins and Hitchens have tried various keys but they just don't fit. The closest they may come to opening the door is 'eternal matter' but that doesn't explain the obviously created order. The summary of 10 words will also open the door to understanding salvation for it is only the power of the creator God - Elohim that can make an old sinner into a new creation through salvation in Jesus Christ,
2 Cor 5:17. 'If any man be in Christ he is a new creation.'  John 1 tells us that Jesus Christ was involved in this awesome creation, "All things were made by him and without Him was not anything made that was made."
Israel recently launched a spacecraft with the intention that it would land on the moon but it crashed. The space craft was called Beresheet - the first word in the Hebrew Bible meaning 'beginning'. Order on that space craft was reduced to chaos in a few seconds. In Genesis 1. 1  God created out of nothing the universe.
As we realise that God not only is the key but holds the key we should be glad... Sing along

1. God holds the key of all unknown,
    And I am glad;
If other hands should hold the key,
Or if He trusted it to me,
    I might be sad.
2. What if tomorrow’s cares were here,
    Without its rest?
I’d rather He unlocked the day,
And, as the hours swing open, say,
    My will is best.
3. The very dimness of my sight
    Makes me secure;
For, groping in my misty way,
I feel His hand; I hear Him say,
    My help is sure.
4. I cannot read His future plans;
    But this I know:
I have the smiling of His face,
And all the refuge of His grace
    While here below.
5. Enough; this covers all my wants;
    And so I rest;
For what I cannot, He can see,
And in His care I saved shall be,
    Forever blest.
